Stroke of genius?

A funny {and ironic} thing happened at my staff meeting today.  A very nice man came to talk to us about his company which is offering stroke risk assessments at a discounted price.  It's a great opportunity, I guess.  But that's not the point.  Point is...he's offering STROKE RISK ASSESSMENT.  To TEACHERS.  I don't know why, but I got a big kick out of this.  I mean, we are some of the most chronically stressed out people.  And I know I don't need some radiologist to look at a film to tell me about my stroke risk.

At least once a week I feel like I'm about to stroke out because my little friend decided to run across the room, dive and slide under his table, do some kind of Spider Man maneuver, and jump into his seat at 7:00 in the morning.  Or because I have fourteen kindergartners to provide interventions for but not enough time, space, or man power to do it.  And anytime I look at the ever growing piles of paper to grade and file and analyze and give to someone else so they can grade and analyze and file too, I can feel the stroke a-comin'...  So I don't really think teachers need to pay money to have someone tell them they need to chill out or else.  We know we're stressed to the max and that our high blood pressure is not good.  But for some reason {most likely insanity*} we love what we do and keep on keepin' on, high stroke risks and all.

*Maybe in addition to stroke risk assessment, they could offer reduced price psych evals.

Girl...I still can't figure out WHY this happened. He's also setting up in the library with medical equipment later this month to do these stroke risk tests. Again, not sure WHY. I mean, I guess some people are really interested in taking him up on his offer and that's great for them. However, I'm more interested in the laugh it gave me.

Too funny! I have to say though - I think my sense of humour will save me from a stroke. Any time my kids do something off the wall and I feel my blood pressure start to rise one of them will do something funny/silly/cute and I can't stay upset! Of course, one of these days my lack of filing is probably going to bite me in the butt, but I'm not stressing it now lol!

Wanna know what i thought was funny about that? The guy who came to talk to us about STROKE PREVENTION stunk something AWFUL of Smoke!!! Our papers stunk soo bad. The man who is talking about stroke prevention is a CHAIN SMOKER! Really? I couldn't even take him seriously!

OMG!! How could I forget about that, Sarah?! We were passing the papers around going, "WTH is that smell?" So I guess you're going to keep your $105 and spend it on shoes like me?

Seriously! I about had a stroke when one of my boys held up a little container and announced he brought acid to school today! Turns out it was vegetable oil in that little container, but still!! Thanks for the laugh!!

Ha ha! How RIDICULOUS-- and gross about the chain smoking thing. That's not exactly good for business!
Maybe you should adopt the philosophy me and my team have: red wine- good for the heart. Don't you know that's why I drink it?
I'm with you- buy some shoes! (or a purse, or earings, etc.)

super funny...I made my husband and myself actually get all the tests they were telling us we needed...The technicians came and did it all at our school so I am there in my undies on a table in a classroom and the lady kind of freaked out somewhere in the region of my liver I think but after 10 minutes of pushing harder and twisting the device the other technician came and took a look only to tell her that she had it upside down...OMG...turns out I am not going to stroke out yet. But the test almost made me. p.s. I love you and you are funny and I want to follow you but the button is not working... :(
